The Story Behind Our Silver-Winning Sausage Roll
(A love letter to heritage, home kitchens, and a very special pastry)

Some dishes begin in professional kitchens.
Ours began at home — flour on the counter, laughter in the air, Gary baking beside his mum.
If you know our Executive Head Chef, Gary, you’ll know he loves a story, a tradition… and a good sausage roll. Long before he was leading a team of chefs at Jenkinsons, he was a kid in his family kitchen learning the recipe that would eventually become this sausage roll — the very one that won Silver at the 2025 English Winter Fair.
Our first ever entry.
Our first ever award.
Not bad for a humble roll of pastry and passion.

Of course, the recipe has been refined over the years — a little more balance here, a hint of apple there, the kind of gentle evolution that happens when someone truly cares about flavour. But the heart of it?
Still mum’s recipe.
Still home.
That’s why this win feels so special. It’s heritage on a plate — a reminder that great food doesn’t have to be complicated or pretentious. Sometimes the things we grow up with become the things guests talk about years later.
From family kitchen to Jenkinsons menu to award-winning to wedding day favourite.

We like to think that every couple who serves these at their celebration becomes part of that story too — another chapter in a recipe that carries generations of warmth and care.
And yes… we’ll be back next year.
